(contract dated at Duffus, 3 Jan. 1451/2) Isabel, dau. of Alexander Sutherland, of Duffus, and had 6 sons, (1) Sir James, of Cumnock and Westfield, first heritable sheriff of Elgin 1498; d. 20 April, 1504, having m. Euphemia, dau. of Patrick Dunbar, eldest of the three coheirs of CuninocK and Mochrum. (2) Sir John, killed 1503, having m. 1st, Margaret Dunbar, 2nd of the three coheirs of Cumnock and Mochrum. He m. 2ndly, Janet Stewart. His 2nd son of his 2nd marriage was Gavin, archbishop of Glasgow, 5 Feb. 1525, 6, preceptor to James V. lord high chanceUor of Scotland, 21 Aug. 1528; d. 30 April 1547. (3) Alexander, of Altcash, Kilboyack, and Killkallumkill, m. about Oct. 1480, Lady Janet Sutherland, eldest dau. of John, 7th Earl of Sutherland, and was murdered by Alexander Sutherland, of Daldred (who was executed), between 25 and 31 Mar. 1498, and had a son, James, of whom hereafter. (4) Gavin, dean of Moray, archdeacon of St. Andrew's, lord clerk register of Scotland 1504, bishop of Aberdeen 1518; d. 9 Mar. 1531/2. (5) David, of Durris, co. Inverness, ancestor of SIR William Dunbar, of Durn, created a Baronet of Nova Scotia Jan. 1697/8 (see that article). (6) Patrick, M.A. chanceUor of Aberdeen and Caithness, d. 8 Sept. 1525. JAMES DITNBAR, of Altcash, Kilboyack, KiUkallumkill,and Conze; 12 Mar. 1508, had a charter to himself and his 1st wife, Ellen Innes, of the lands of Altcash and Conze, and had with other issue a son, (1) Alexander, of Conze and Kilboyack, m. 2ndly, Elizabeth, dau. of John, 6th Lord Forbes, and relict of Alexander Innes, of that ilk. By a former ^'ife he had a son, Alexander, younger, of Conze, fear of Mochrum Park,m. (contract dated 17 Nov. 1564) Grizel, eldest dau. and coheir of Sir John Dunbar, of Moclunun Park, and had 2 sons, [1] Sir John, of Mochnun Park, whose male line became extinct on the death of his grandson. [2] Alexander, of Pankhill, m. Nichola, dau. of Sir Alexander Stewart, of Garhes (E. Gallowat), and was great-grand- father of Sir James, created a Baronet op Nova Scotia, 29 JIar. 1694 (see below.) JAMES DUNBAR m. 2ndly, Isabel Brodie, and had a son, (2) George, of Asliesk, ancestor of Dunbar of Newton, after- wards of Northfield. SIR JAMES DUNBAR, of Mochrum, created a Baronet 29 Mar. 1694, by patent, with remainder to the heirs male of his body, and was also assigned for supporters two doves regardant imperially crowned, and for motto "Candoris prae- mium honos ;" he d. 1718, having m. 1st, Isabel, dau. and at length coheir of Sir Thomas Nicholson, Bart, (ext.j, of Carnock, bv Lady Margaret Livingstone, his wife. His great-grandson, SIR GEORGE DUNBAR, 5th Baronet (on the death of his cousin. Sir George, 4th Baronet, 15 Oct. 1799); b. 1752; d. , 1811, having m. 1775, Jane, dau. and coheir of WiUiam Rowe, of Liverpool ; she d. 28 Dec. 1830, having had with other issue 2 sons, [1] Sir William Rowe, 6th Baronet, capt. 21st light dragoons; b. 19 Oct. 1776; d. s. p. 22 June, 1841, having m. 24 Aug. 1798, Jacobina Anne, only child of William Copland, Esq. of Col- leston ; she d. 1807. [2] James, an officer 21st light dragoons; b. 20 Jime, 1877; d. 31 Jan. 1840,having m. 11 April, 1811, Baroness Anna Cathe- rina, dau. of William Ferdinand.
