The patent of Baronetcy granted to Sir Thomas having been lost dm-ing the Civil wars his eldest son, Sir Francis, was created a Baroxet by letters patent, 22 April, 1678, to hold to him and the heirs male of his body, with remainder to his foiu- brothers, Thomas, Benjamin, Herbert, and (Rev.) Jonathan, and the heirs male of their respective bodies, with the precedency of all Baronets created after 7 Feb. 1644 (see also similar re-creation, Aclajn'D). The great-great-grandson of Rev. She b. 15 Feb. 1761; d. 4 June, 1837, having had (with the above-named Louisa Mary Anne, wife of Sir Henry Ed- wardes, 9th Baronet) a son and heir, Thomas Henry Hope-Edwardes, of Netley, high sheriff, Salop, 1837. He and his issue were authorised to take the surname of Edwardes in addition to and after that of Hope, and bear the arms quarterly, by R.L. 7 Nov. 1854; b. 13 Dec. 1794 ; d. 6 April, 1871, having m. 23 April, 1833, Louisa Char- lotte, eldest dau. of Lieut.-Col.
