SIR THOMAS HOME, of Home, acquired the barony of Dunglass in marriage with Nicola, heir of the Pepdie Cor Papedie) family (Arg. three pepingoes vert), and had with other issue 2 sons, /!/ Sir Alexander, of Dungla.ss, taken prisoner at the battle of Homildon 1402, killed at the battle of Vemeuil in France 17 Aug. 1424, ancestor of Earl Home (see Peerage). /2/ Sir David of Wedderbum, co. Berwick, 1413, and of Thurston. East Lothian, knighted by James II. 1448; m. Alice, heiress of 'Wedderbum. His great-grandson, viz.— SIR DAVID HOME, of Wedderbiu-n, fell with his eldest son George, at Flodden Field 9 Sept. 1513 ; m. Isabel, dau. of David Hoppringle, of Galashiels, and had with 3 daus. 7 sons, known as " the Spears of We<lderbum," viz. — (1) George, fell at Flodden 9 Sept. 1513, s. p. Agatha, dau. of James Drummoud, of Blair Drummoud, co. Perth. His grandson Henry Home-Drummond, of Blair Drummond, co. Stirhng (sou of George Home-Dnmimond, by his wife Janet, dau. of Rev. John Jardine, D.D.), vice-lieut. and M.P. Perthsh 1821/6, 1840,52; b. 28 July, 1783; d. 12 Sept. 1867, having m. 14 April, 1812, Christian, eldest dau. of Charles Moray, Esq. of Abercaimy, co. Perth, and sister and heir of William Moray Stirling, Esq. of Abercairny and Ardoch; she d. 29 Nov. 1864, having had 2 sons and a dau. /I/ George Stirling Home-Drummond, b. 1 Mar. 1813; d. 3 June, 1876, having m. 1st — 1840, Mary, dau. of WiUiam Hay, Esq. of Dunse Castle, co. (2) Sir David, of Crossrigs, a brewer in 1673, advocate 1687, " to his gi-eat surjmse " was appointed a lord of session as Lord Crossrigs, and took his seat 1 Nov. 1689. also of justiciarv 1690, and knighted; b. 1643 : d. 13 April, 1707, having m. 1st, 1674, Barbara Weir, relict of WiUiam Laurie ; she d. 1678. Hem. 2ndly, 1680, dau. of Francis Hepburn, of Bearaston (and relict of James Smythe). His great-grandson of this 2nd mar- riage, JAMES Home, of Linhoris, prebendary of Mid-Calder, Edinburgh, by purchase 1801, W.s. and a commissioner of that society, lyon deputy to Robert and Thomas Robert, Earls of Kinuonll, 1796 and 1804, and appointed principal lyon clerk for life; b. 17 Dec. 1755; d. 1819, having m.
