(she re-m. to James, Earl of Hartfell, ancestor of the Marquis of Aunaudale, ext.) His younger son, SIR ALEXA:N'DER seton, of Pitmedden, knighted by Charles II. 1664, a senator college of justice 1677. a lord of jvisticiary 1682, as Lord Pitmedden, knight of the shire for Aberdeen, 1681, 1685, 1686, and was created a Baronet of Nova Scotia 11 Dec. 1683, with remainder to his issue male ; died in 1719, having m. Margaret, dau. of William Lauder, one of the principal clerks of session, and had 5 sons and 5 daus. His great-grandson, SIR WILLIAM, eth Baronet (on the death of his uncle, Sir Archibald); d. 1819, ha^^ng m. Margaret, eldest dan. of James Ligertwood, of Tillery, and had with other issue a son, JAMES, major 92nd liighlanders, died fi-om wounds in the Peninsular war 1814 ; m. Frances, dau. of Capt. George Coote (who served vnXh. Gen. Burgoyne in Canada and Ticonderago 1776, taken prisoner at Saratoga), nephew of Gen. Sir Eyre Coote, G.C.B. of West Park, Hants. (BART.), and had a son and 2 daus.
