Southampton, sheriff of the county 26 Eliz. 1583/4, knight of the shire 1582/3, gentleman of the privy chamber to James I. created a Baronet 8 Mar. 1620/1, will dated 23 Feb. 1628, proved 14 Nov. 1629; m. 1st, dau. of Shelley, of Maple Durliam, Oxon. ; she d. s.p. He m. 2ndly, Amphihs, dau. of Richard AVeston, of Skrynes, Essex, a judge of the common pleas, and had with 3 daus. 4 sons, [1] Sir Richard, 2nd Baronet, knighted at Whitehall, 11 May, 1603, gentleman of the bedchamber to Chari.es I. ambassador to the Queen of Bohemia, died about 1657, aged 70; his male line became extinct on the death of his grandson Sir Joseph Hermingildus, 5th Baronet, S.J. 1748. [2] Sir Walter, of Aldershot, knighted at Whitehall, 16 May, 1604; m. 7 May, 1597, Mary, younger dau. and coheir of Robert White, of Aldershot, son of Sir John White, lord mayor of London ; she d. 31 Jan. 1620, having had with 6 daus. 8 sons, of whom the 2ud, viz. : — Francis, of Aldershot, Hants, and of Frimley, Sun-ey ; bp. Dec. 1C02; bin-. 14 July, 1671, having m. Susannah, dau. of William Haws, of Bromley Hall, Essex. ; she bur. 29 Dec. 1687, having had with 2 daus. 2 sous, (1) White, of Aldershot and Frimley aforesaid, bur. there 30 Aug. 1700, having m. 1st— 15 June, 1665, Elizabeth, dau. and heir of John Shudd, of Thursley, Surrey ; she d. 18 April, 1665. He m. 2ndly — Anne, dau. of James Supple, of London ; she was bur. 14 Oct. 1684, leaving issue. Their grandson. Sir Henry, s. as 6th Baronet. (2) Sir Beniamin, knighted at Whitehall 20 Jan. 1669 ; bp. 24 May, 1646; m. (licence dated 9 Feb. 1669/70) Jentiles, dau. and heir of John Colt, of Rickmansworth, Herts, and had issue. [3] Sir Benjamin, M.P. Petersfield, knighted at Tichborne, 29 Aug. 1618. [4] Sir Henry, col. in the army, governor of LifEord Castle, Ireland, distinguished himself in the great Irish rebelUon, temp. James I. especially in the defence of Drogheda, knighted at Tichborne 29 Aug. 1623, P.C. Ireland, a lord justice of Ireland 1642, field marshal of the king's forces in Ireland, ad- mitted to Inner Temple 1602. His grandson, Sir Henry, of Beaulieu, co. Louth (son of Sir William Tichborne), knighted by William hi. created a Baronet, 12 July, 1697, created BARON Ferrard, of Beaulieu, in the peerage of Ireland, 26 Sept. 1715; d. 1731, when the title expired, his 3 sons having predeceased him. SIR HENRY, 6th Baronet, bp. at Frimley 14 Oct. 1710; d. 16 July, 1785, liaving m. 1742/3, Mary, eldest dau. of Michael Blount, Esq. of Maple Durham, Oxon. (by Mary Agnes, his ^vife, dau. and coheir of Sir Henry Joseph Tich- borne, 4th Baronet) ; she d. 10 Feb. 1799, leaving an only son, viz. SIR HENRY', 7th Baronet, b. 6 Sept. 1756; d. 14 June, 1821, having m. 1777/8, Elizabeth Lucy, eldest dau. of Edmund Plowden, Esq. of Plowden, Salop ; she d. 24 Jan. 1829, having had with other issue 5 sons, /I/ Sir Henry Joseph, 8th B.ironet, b. 5 Jan. 1779 ; d. 3 June, 1845, having m. 23 April, 1806, Anne, 4th dau. of Sir Thomas Burke, Bart, of Marble Hill, co. Gahvay ; she d. 12 Aug. 1853, having had 7 daus. [1] Elizabeth Anne, m. 5 May, 1829, to Joseph Th.addeus, 11th Lord Dormer, who d. 5 July, 1871. [2] Frances Catherine, d. 19 April, 1836, having m. 22 Sept. 1829, as 2nd wife, to Henrv Benedict, 11th Lord Arundell of Wardour, who d. 19 Oct. 1862. [3] Julia, m. 1st— 1 Feb. 18.30, to Lieut.-Col. Charles Thomas Talbot, who d. 30 April. 1838, leaving with 2 daus. an only son — Bertram Arthur, 17th Earl of Shrewsbury, who d. unm. 10 Aug. 18.i6. She re-m. 20 .Ian. 1839, to Capt. SIR JAMES FRANCIS, 10th Baronet; he assumed for him- self and his heirs the additional name and arms of DOUGHTY, ))y R.L. 6 April, 1853; b. 3 Oct. 1784; d. 11 June, 1862, having m. 1 Aug. 1837, Henrietta Fehcite Seymour; she d. 12 Mar. 1868, leaving an only sm-viviug child, SIR ALFRED JOSEPH, 11th Baronet, b. 4 Sept. 1839; d. 22 Feb. 1866, having m. 17 April, 1861, Hon. Teresa Mary, eldest dau. of Henry Benedict, lltli Lord Arundell of Wardour (she re-m. 24 Feb. 1873, to Henrj' Lamplugh Wickham, capt. late rifle brig.ade), and had an only surviving son, (1) Sir Henry Alfred Joseph, 1 2th and present Baronet .
