This Irish Baronetcy has been omitted by Ulster from his Peerage and Baronetage since 1872. Cork, and had with 2 daus. 2 sons, (1) Richard, d. unm. (2) Sir Parker, s. as 2nd Baronet. Sir Richard m. 2ndly, Margaret, dau. of Robert Smith, of Clibblestown, N.B. and has a son and dau. (3) Smith, m. Angelina, dau. of Right Hon. Sir Michael Smith, Bart, of Newton, Queen's 30.; she re-m. to William, sou of Sir Kildare Borrowes, Bart, and d. s. p. 1808. (4) Margaret, m. to James Fetherston, of Bracklyn, co. West- meath (BART.) SIR PARKER, 2nd Baronet, of Ranelagh, co. Dublin, served with the 23rd R.W. fusiliers during the Seven Years' war, was present at the battle of Minden, and was wounded in the leg at the taking of Hesse Cassel, A.n.c. to L.L. Duke of Northumberland 1763, served with the 29th regt. in America; d. 12 May, 1787, having m. Maria, dau. of John Verity, of Bowling Hall, Torksh. and had with other issue 4 sons and a dau. QIR RICHARD, 3rd Baronet, capt. 4th dragoon guards O 1795, of which he commanded a troop in the rebellion of 1798, and received some severe woun<ls from pikes in an action with the rebels at Ovidstown, co. Kildare, 19 June of that year; d. 2 Aug. 1850, having m. 20 Mar. 1798, Francis Mary Colette, dau. of Edward, Count D'Alton, lieut.-gen. Title acknowledged by Lodge, Walford, &c. SwALE OF Swale Hall. County of York.— Times, 23rd January, 1877. Wliereas King Charles II, by his letters patent bearing date the 21st day of June, 1660, conferred the rank, style, and title of a Baronet upon Solomon Swale, of Swale Hall and South Stainley, in the county of York, Esquire, M.P. in consideration of his great sufferings for his loyalty to King Charles I. and having in his place in Parliament proposed the restoration of the said King Charles II. to hold to the said Solomon Swale and the heirs male lawfully begotten of his body for ever. And whereas the said Sir Solomon Swale, Baronet, had amongst other children la'fully begotten of his body two sons, namely, Henry Swale and Robert Swale, and whereas upon the death of Sir Sebastian Swale, the 4th Baronet, all the issue male law- fully begotten of the body of the said Henry Swale, eldest sou of the said Sir Solomon Swale, Baronet, aforesaid, became and was entirely extinct and ended. And whereas I, who have hitherto been known as the Reverend John Swale, O.S.B. of Pirtley, in the county of Durham, am the son and heir male of William Swale, son and heir of William Swale, son and heir of William Swale, son and heir of William Swale, son and heir of the said Robert Swale, second son of the said Sir Solomon Swale, Bart, as aforesaid, and by virtue of my said lineage as aforesaid I am the heir male lawfully begotten of the body of the said Sir Solomon Swale, so created a Baronet as aforesaid, and as such I am lawfully entitled to the said rank, style, and title of a Baronet, under the said limitations of the same letters patent by which the said title was created as aforesaid , and which is fully set forth in a pedigree compiled by the celebrated genealogist James Phillippe, and enrolled in Her Majesty's High Court of Chancery on the 2nd day of Mar. 1877. And whereas I consider it a sacred duty, which I owe to the memory of my ancestors, and for the futiu-e benefit and welfare of my family, to assume and take unto myself and tlie heirs male of the bodj- of the said Sir Solomon Swale, Bart, lawfully begotten of liis body, the said title of a Baronet. Now be it known to all whom these presents may concern, that I. the said John Swale, have assumed the said Baronetcy, anil will hereafter be known only as the Reverend Sir .Tolin Swale, Baronet, O.S.B. at present of Birtley aforesaid. TEMPLE, (Sir) Grenville Louis John, great- great-grandson of (Sir) John Temple, who in 1786 asfsumed the Baronetcy conferred upon Sir Thomas Temple, of Stowe, Bucks. 29 June, 1611. This (Sir) John bp. at Boston, U.S. 16 April, 1732 (son of Thomas Temple, of Ireland, and grandson of Col. Edmund Temple), assumed the Baronetcy as before stated on the receipt of a letter from the then Marquis of Buckingham, dated 3 Dec. 1786, informing him that, upon the death of Sir Eichard Temple in that year, the Baronetcy devolved upon him as heir male of Sir Peter Temple, 2nd Baronet, Sec. This heirship, however, still remains un- proved, and, if true, his branch would have inherited the title before the Temples of Stanton Barry, who enjoyed it from 1749 to 1786. It is supposed that
