(4) In this section “the appropriate Minister” means the Minister of Housing and Local Government in relation to England and Wales and the Secretary of State in relation to Scotland, and “ national service ” means any such service in any of Her Majesty's forces or other employment (whether or not in the service of Her Majesty) as may be prescribed by regulations under this section.

(5) Regulations made under this section shall be made by statutory instrument and shall be subject to annulment in pursuance of a resolution of either House of Parliament.

(6) Section forty - four of the Water Act, 1945, and section sixty-six of the Water (Scotland) Act, 1946, are hereby repealed, but without prejudice to their operation in relation to any order made or combination entered into before the commencement of this Act.

2 .Short title, commencement and extent

(1) This Act may be cited as the Water Officers Compensation Act, 1960.

(2) This Act shall come into operation on such date as the Minister of Housing and Local Government and the Secretary of State may by order made by statutory instrument appoint.

(3) This Act does not extend to Northern Ireland .
