Until the publication of Peet (1923, 2) this was the fundamental work for the study of the Papyrus, even though it has, of late years, been considerably out of date. Quotation (p. 2): "Zu dem sachlichen Verstāndniss des Papyrus hat nicht wenig die Hülfe beigetragen, welche mir zwei Mathematiker der hiesigen Universität [Heidelberg], der eben erwahnte Prof. Dr. Cantor und mein Bruder Prof. Dr. Friedrich Eisenlohr gewélhrt haben. Ich bin denselben dafür dankbarst verflichtet."
"Though I have seen the original of the papyrus both before and after my publication was issued, 1 was unable, being far ofi, to refer to the original, but depended only on the copy, confining my alterations to correcting the evident displacement of some of the fragments and joining the text on one plate, which was in the copy divided into two."—Eisenlohr (1891).
