ROAD TRAFFIC

The Traffic Signs (Speed Limits) Regulations
and General Directions 1969

Made 17th October 1969
Laid before Parliament 30th October 1969
Coming into Operation 3rd November 1969

The Secretary of State and the Minister of Transport (hereinafter referred to as "the Minister"), acting jointly in exercise of their powers under section 54 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1967(a)[1] and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with the provisions of section 107(2) of that Act, hereby make the Regulations contained in Parts I and II of this Instrument; and the Secretary of State (as respects the erection of traffic signs such as are prescribed by the said Regulations on or near roads in Scotland, Wales and Monmouthshire) and the Minister (as respects the erection of such signs on or near roads in England excluding Monmouthshire), each acting in exercise of the powers under section 75(1) of the said Act of 1967 and of all other enabling powers, hereby give the Directions contained in Parts I and III of this Instrument:—

Part I—General

Citation and commencement

1. This Instrument may be cited as the Traffic Signs (Speed Limits) Regulations and General Directions 1969 and shall come into operation on the 3rd November 1969.

Revocation

2. The Traffc Signs (Speed Limits) Regulations and General Directions 1967(b)[2] are hereby revoked.

Savings

3.(1) Where, immediately before the coming into operation of this Instrument—

(a) a traffic sign shown in any diagram in the Schedule to the Traffic Signs (Speed Limits) Regulations 1962(c)[3] as amended by the Traffic Signs
