DEAR SIR,

AFTER halting ſome day at Benars, in order to refereſh the army, we proceeded on our march towards Belgium, delighted as we paſſed along, with a continued view, of the fineſt country on earth, diverſifed with fields of rice, plantations of ſugar, and gardens abounding with a variety off fruits and flowers; and encamped at Duci, oppoſite Alahabad, a large fort, about 412 miles to the fouth of Delhi, 540 from Calcutta, and 850 from the mouth of the Ganges.
