you would have conſidered the execution of ſuch a project all together impracticable, and not within the compaſs of human courage or abilities.

The enemy hitherto regarding any intention of diſturbing them as the greateſt preſumption, attributed our ſucceſs to the divine interpoſition: ſuch an attempt was indeed above Common conception, and it had never ſucceeded, but for the terror, with which the boldneſs of the enterpriſe, had ſtruck the unwary dupes of heedleſs ſecurity. The greatneſs of the undertaking, reflects the higheſt honour on the Officers and men employed in it; and proves the general opinion that
