The Lazzaretto.15. The Lazzaretto is a Vast building, carrying in compass a thousand and eight hundred yards. It stands near the Town walls, yet out of the Town, and it is to receive into it Those that are sick of the plague. There are as many chambers in it, as there are dayes in the year. In the middle of the square of this vast Court, or Quadrangle, stands a round Chappel, covered at the top; but open on all sides in such a manner, as that all the people from their several Chambers and beds, may behold the Priest saying Divine service, and joyn theirdevotions
