§5 (3)

as respects the rights not assigned, shall be treated for the purposes of this Act as the owner[1] of the copyright, and the provisions of this Act shall have effect accordingly.


Position of partial assignee.This is merely consequential. If copyright is divisible the assignee of any portion of the copyright must, with regard to the rights comprised in that portion, be treated as the owner of the copyright. If it were otherwise there would be no assignment, but merely a licence.
