The poetical pieces forming part of the MS. Book, but not printed in this section of my edition, are part of the Songs of Experience, the variant readings of which are suppUed in the footnotes to that work — 'Three virgins at the break of day,' which I print in the poems from the Pickering MS. with the readings of the MS. Book version, and the two quatrains 'Each man is in his spectre's power' and 'I give you the end of a golden string,' afterwards engraved as part of Jerusalem and here printed among poems from the Prophetic Books.
