immediately turned the superiority in favour of the Marlboough: by eleven o'clock the Russian fleet sheered off, and his Majesty chaced: nine of their line of battle ships were taken, three sunk, and two burnt; forty transports were also taken, and several sunk. Thus did this young and gallant Monarch, with all the courage, conduct, and skill, of an experienced Admiral, defeat the enemy's fleet, which was so much superior to his own. This second victory raised the fame of the King to the highest pitch, changed the face of affairs, and spread a general joy through the breasts of all his subjects.
