The great red dragon, or the devil, being foiled in his attempt to devour the child as soon as it was born, and being driven out of heaven by Michael and his angels, and being cast out into the earth and knowing that he hath but a short time to pour out his wrath upon the inhabitants of the earth and the sea, it might naturally be expected that his wrath during that short time would be terrible.
"And when the dragon saw that he was cast out unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child."
