With the completion of the Panama Canal there will be a physical opportunity for vessels to clear from Boston direct to the Orient and to the Pacific Coast. Should capital be found that is willing to invest in steamer lines sailing between this port and other parts of the country and of the world, there will be no effort made by this management to discourage such investment. On the contrary, any movement that will help to market the products of New England, that will place them in greater quantitics in the hands of the ultimate consumer, will receive support.
