Common in woods and on shaded banks, ascending to 700 yards on Cheviot, 600 yards in Welhope, 550 in Harwood Dale, 500 yards near the head of Knucton Burn (Derwent).

By the Wansbeck near Camboise (J. Storey!). In several of the Tyne denes as Tecket, Scotswood, and Heaton; and those of the Magnesian Limestone as Ryhope, Hesleden, and Castle Eden. Shipley Wood near Eglestone, 200 yards (Rev. J. Harriman. F.). In the Darlington lane a mile west of Norton (John Hogg).
