short dorsal tunnel. Buccal margin, provided with lamellse (external crown) ; frontal border of the buccal capsule bearing besides short tongues (internal crown), six cephalic papillae ; two cervical papillae. Male with tw-o (prebursal) papillae. Female with two caudal papillae.
All these characters are found combined in the parasite collected by Dr. Thomas. It will therefore be sufficient for us not to lay stress on its specific peculiarities.
Body cylindroid, thick, attenuated only towards the extremities. Tegument striated across ; striae separated by 27a* at the level of the termination of the (Bsophagus. Cephalic papillae crossing the peristomic swelling ; the two lateral ones having a wide base and blunt point, the four sub-median longer, more acute and with cylindrical base. Cephalic vesicle progressively attenuated behind and only stopping abruptly at the ventral slit, which is situated 360-365/a from the mouth. A little forwa^rd of this slit, the vesicle contracts a little. Cervical papillae slightly symetrical, situated 500-550/t from the mouth. External crown consisting of 38 lamellae, the free extremity of which being semi-circular. Internal crown with short tongues in double number. Buccal capsule very depressed ; average height 22/x with a minimum on a level with the dorsal tunnel ; ellipsoid transverse section with large dorso-ventral diameter of 11 5/* with small diameter of 97/*. OEsophagus I'l mm. long to 1.2 mm. — 200 by 225 to 275/* maximum width, bell-mouthed (wide opened) at the frontal extremity, where its chitinous wall forms six large ribs or blunt teeth.
