BLACKWATER FEVER

for at least six months after arrival in Europe. Most of the cases of blackwater I have seen in this country were, I believe, attributable to neglect of this precaution and to a big dose of quinine taken for a relapse of a malarial infection supposed to have died out. Those who have had blackwater should gradually habituate themselves to quinine, beginning with minute doses— ½ gr.— slowly increased to 5 gr., which dose they should take daily while under the endemic influences, and at least for six mouths afterwards.
