INTERNATIONAL COVENANT[1] ON CIVIL AND POLITICAL RIGHTS
The States Parties to the present Covenant,
Considering that, in accordance with the principles proclaimed in the Charter of the United Nations, recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world,
- ↑ The Covenant, with the exception of article 41,* came into force on 23 March 1976 in respect of the following States, i.e., three months after the date of deposit with the Secretary-General of the United Nations of the thirty-fifth in strument of ratification or accession, in accordance with article 49 (1):**
