And be ttfurther enacted, That whenever the land office at sippil ’ Pontotoc, Mississippi, shall be discontinued, the records and files thereof shall be placed in the possession of the clerk of the United States district court for the northern district of Mississippi, who is hereby made keeper of the same, and authorized to perform all the duties now conferred upon the register and receiver, and shall receive for his services therefor a sum not exceeding five hundred dollars per annum.
