Ch. 117,118. 1857. 251 of the United States, in any wise relating to or effecting any right, claim, or title, or any contest therefor, to any of the public lands of the United States, and any person or persons shall, taking such oath, attirmation or athdavit, knowingly, wilfully, or corruptly swear or atlirm falsely, the same. shall be deemed and taken to be perjury, and the person or person_s guilty thereof shall, upon conviction, be liable to the punishment prescribed for that oiience by the laws of the United States. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Gifted States of America in Congress assembled, That the selection of swamp Selections 0;- and overflowed lands granted to the several States by the act of Con- Swamp Md Overgress, approved September twenty-eight, eighteen hundred and fifty, ggggglands °°"` entitled "An act to enable the State of Arkansas and other States to 1850, ch. 84. reclaim the swamp lands within their limits," and the act of the second V0]- iX· P· 519- of March, eighteen hundred and forty-nine, entitled "An act to aid the 184%}, ch. 87. State of Louisiana in draining the swamp lands therein," heretofore made VOL ‘X· P· 35* and reported to the Commissioner of the General Land-Office, so far as the same shall remain vacant and unappropriated, and not interfered with by an actual settlement under any existing law of the United States, be and the same are hereby confirmed, and shall be approved and patented to the said several States, in conformity with the provisions of the act aforesaid, as soon as may be practicable .after the passage of this law: Provided, however, That nothing in this act contained shall interfere with the provisions of the act of Congress entitled "An act for the relief of Act of i855,¤h. purchasers and locators of swamp and overtlowed lands," approved March }3g€°g*§'g;;*élHg¤ the second, eighteen hundred and fifty-Eve, which shall be and is hereby ed_ ` continued in force, and extended to all entries and locations of lands Vol. x. p. 634. claimed as swamp lands made since its passage.
