For the preservation of the collections of the exploring and surveying expeditions of the government, four thousand dollars. For the transfer to, and new arrangement of those collections in, the Smithsonian Institution, one thousand dollars. To enable the Secretary of the Interior to pay the superintendent of the building occupied by said Secretary and his department, from the first day of January, eighteen hundred and fifty-tive, to the thirtieth day of June, eighteen hundred and fifty-eight, the allowance to be made to such superintendent, with his salary as clerk, not to exceed two thousand dollars per annum, the sum of seven hundred dollars.
