Wnnnnas a convention or agreement was made and entered into at Doaksville, in the Choctaw Country, on the seventeenth day of January, eighteen hundred and thirty-seven, by and between the Choctaw and Chickasaw Tribes of Indians, which convention or agreement was made subject to the approval of the President and Senate of the United States ; And whereas the Senate, by their resolution passed on the twenty-fifth day of February last, did approve of the said convention or agreement, Now be it known that I, MARTIN VAN BUREN, President of the United States of America, having seen and considered the said convention or agreement, do, by these presents, declare that I approve and confirm the same, and every clause and article thereofi Given under my hand, at the City of Washington, the twenty- fourth day of March, in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and thirty-seven, and of the independence of the United States the sixty-first.
