PUBLIC LAW 104-264—OCT. 9, 1996 110 STAT. 3263 a revocation or suspension still in effect on the date of the request.", (c) CIVIL PENALTIES.—Section 46301, as amended by section 1220(b) of this Act, is further amended— (1) m each of subsections (a)(l)(A), (d)(2), and (fKlXA)(i) by inserting "44724," after "44718(d),"; and (2) in subsection (a)(2)(A) by inserting "44724," after "44716,". (d) APPLICABILITY. — The amendments made by this section shall apply to any air carrier hiring an individual as a pilot whose application was first received by the carrier on or after the 120th day following the date of the enactment of this Act. SEC. 503. STUDIES OF MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR PILOT QUALIFICA- TIONS AND OF PAY FOR TRAINING. (a) STUDY. —The Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration shall appoint a task force consisting of appropriate representatives of the aviation industry to conduct— (1) a study directed toward the development of— (A) standards and criteria for preemployment screening tests measuring the psychomotor coordination, genersJ intellectual capacity, instrument and mechanical comprehension, and physical and mental fitness of an applicant for employment as a pilot by an air carrier; and (B) standards and criteria for pilot training facilities to be licensed by the Administrator and which will assure that pilots trained at such facilities meet the premployment screening standards and criteria described in subparagraph (A); and (2) a study to determine if the practice of some air carriers to require employees or prospective employees to pay for the training or experience that is needed to perform night check duties for an air carrier is in the public interest. (b) REPORT. —Not later than 1 year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Administrator shall transmit to Congress a report on the results of the study conducted under subsection (a)(2). SEC. 604. STUDY OF MINIMUM FLIGHT TIME. (a) STUDY.— The Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration shall conduct a study to determine whether current minimum flight time requirements applicable to individusds seeking employment as a pilot with an air carrier are sufficient to ensure public safety. (b) REPORT. —Not later than 1 year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Administrator shall transmit to Congress a report on the results of the study. TITLE VI—CHILD PILOT SAFETY SEC. 601. SHORT TITLE. This title may be cited as the "Child Pilot Safety Act". SEC. 602. CHILD PILOT SAFETY.
