(c) This section shall take effect on October 1, 1998, and shall be effective with respect to fiscal years beginning on or after that date. SEC. 12. USE OF FREQUENT FLYER MILES BY MEMBERS OF THE SENATE. —Section 507(a) of the Congressional Accountability Act of 1995 (2 U.S.C. 1436(a)) is amended— (1) by striking "Notwithstsinding" and inserting the following: "(1) IN GENERAL.— Except as provided in paragraph (2), notwithstanding"; and (2) by adding at the end the following: "(2) TRAVEL BETWEEN THE WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN AREA AND A HOME STATE.— Paragraph (1) shall not apply to any travel award relating to air transportation for a Member of the Senate, the spouse of that Member, or a son or daughter of that Member, between the Washington metropolitan area and the State of that Member.". SEC. 13. Senate Resolution 286, 102d Congress, agreed to April 9, 1992, is amended by adding at the end of subsection (a) the following: "Fees established under this subsection for services received from the Attending Physician by a Senator or an officer of the Senate shall be equal to the fees for such services received by a member of the House of Representatives.".
