(b) ADJUSTMENT OF PAYMENT FORMULAS. — (1) SOLE COMMUNITY HOSPITALS.— Section 1886(d)(5)(F) (42 U.S.C. 1395ww(d)(5)(F)) is amended— (A) in clause (iv)(VI), by inserting after "10 percent" the following: "or, for discharges occurring on or after April 1, 2001, is equal to the percent determined in accordance with clause (x)"; and (B) by adding at the end the following new clause: "(x) For purposes of clause (iv)(VI) (relating to sole community hospitals), in the case of a hospital for a cost reporting period with a disproportionate patient percentage (as defined in clause (vi)) that— "(I) is less than 19.3, the disproportionate share adjustment percentage is determined in accordance with the following formula: (P-15)(.65) + 2.5; "(II) is equal to or exceeds 19.3, but is less than 30.0, such adjustment percentage is equal to 5.25 percent; or "(III) is equal to or exceeds 30, such adjustment percentage is equal to 10 percent, where T' is the hospital's disproportionate patient percentage (as defined in clause (vi)).". (2) RURAL REFERRAL CENTERS.— Such section is further amended— (A) in clause (iv)(V), by inserting after "clause (viii)" the following: "or, for discharges occurring on or after April 1, 2001, is equal to the percent determined in accordance with clause (xi)"; and (B) by adding at the end the following new clause: "(xi) For purposes of clause (iv)(V) (relating to rural referral centers), in the case of a hospital for a cost reporting period with a disproportionate patient percentage (as defined in clause (vi)) tha1>- "(I) is less than 19.3, the disproportionate share adjustment percentage is determined in accordance with the following formula: (P-15)(.65) + 2.5; "(II) is equal to or exceeds 19.3, but is less than 30.0, such adjustment percentage is equal to 5.25 percent; or "(III) is equal to or exceeds 30, such adjustment percentage is determined in accordance with the following formula: (P- 30)(.6) + 5.25, where T' is the hospital's disproportionate patient percentage (as defined in clause (vi)).". (3) SMALL RURAL HOSPITALS GENERALLY.—Such section is further amended— (A) in clause (iv)(III), by inserting after "4 percent" the following: "or, for discharges occurring on or after April 1, 2001, is equal to the percent determined in accordance with clause (xii)"; and (B) by adding at the end the following new clause: "(xii) For purposes of clause (iv)(III) (relating to small rural hospitals generally), in the case of a hospital for a cost reporting
