In making awards under this part, the Attorney General shall consider the average annual number of part 1 violent crimes reported by each State to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the 3 most recent calendar years for which data is available and consider the existing resources and current needs of the potential grant recipient."; 42 USC 3797m. (5) in section 2806(a)— (A) in the matter before paragraph (1), by inserting "or unit of local government" after "each State"; and (B) in paragraph (1), by inserting before the semicolon the following: ", which shall include a comparison of pregrant and post-grant forensic science capabilities" (C) in paragraph (2), by striking "and" at the end; (D) by redesignating paragraph (3) as paragraph (4); and (E) by inserting after paragraph (2) the following: "(3) an identification of the number and t3npe of cases currently accepted by the laboratory; and". SEC. 5002. AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS. There are authorized to be appropriated for each of fiscal years 2002 through 2007— (1) such sums as may be necessary for the Center for Domestic Preparedness of the Department of Justice in Anniston, Alabama; (2) such sums as may be necessary for the Texas Engineering Extension Service of Texas A&M University; (3) such sums as may be necessary for the Energetic Materials Research and Test Center of the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology; (4) such sums as may be necessary for the Academy of Counterterrorist Education at Louisiana State University; (5) such sums as may be necessary for the National Exercise, Test, and Training Center of the Department of Energy, located at the Nevada test site; (6) such sums as may be necessary for the National Center for the Study of Counter-Terrorism and Cyber-Crime at Norwich University; and (7) such sums as may be necessary for the Northeast Counterdrug Training Center at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania.
