Subti t leC—Arm e dFo r c e sR etireme n t H ome SEC.142 1. AUTHORIZ ATIO N O F A P PROPRIATIONS FOR AR M E D FORCES RETIREMENT HOME. T here is authori z ed to b e appropriated for fiscal y ear 2008 from the Armed F orces R etirement H ome Trust Fund the sum of $6 1,624,000 for the operation of the Armed Forces Retirement Home. SEC. 1422. ADMINISTRATION AND O V ERSI G HT OF THE ARMED FORCES RETIREMENT HOME. (a) ROLE OF SEC R ETAR Y OF DEFENSE.—Section 1511 of the Armed Forces Retirement Home Act of 1991 (24 U.S.C. 411) is amended— (1) in subsection (d), by adding at the end the following new paragraph

‘‘(3) The administration of the Retirement Home (including administration for the provision of health care and medical care for residents) shall remain under the direct authority, control, and administration of the Secretary of Defense.’’; and (2) in subsection (h), by adding at the end the following new sentence: ‘‘The annual report shall include an assessment of all aspects of each facility of the Retirement Home, including the quality of care at the facility.’’. (b) ACCREDITATION.—Subsection (g) of section 1511 of the Armed Forces Retirement Home Act of 1991 (24 U.S.C. 411) is amended to read as follows: ‘‘(g) ACCREDITATION.—The Chief O perating Officer shall secure and maintain accreditation by a nationally recognized civilian accrediting organization for each aspect of each facility of the Retire- ment Home, including medical and dental care, pharmacy, inde- pendent living, and assisted living and nursing care.’’. (c) SPECTR UM OF CARE.—Section 1513(b) of the Armed Forces Retirement Home Act of 1991 (24 U.S.C. 413(b)) is amended by inserting after the first sentence the following new sentence: ‘‘The services provided residents of the Retirement Home shall include appropriate nonacute medical and dental services, pharmaceutical services, and transportation of residents, which shall be provided at no cost to residents.’’. (d) SENIOR MEDICAL AD V ISOR FOR RETIREMENT HOME.— (1) DESI G NATION AND DUTIES OF SENIOR MEDICAL ADVISOR.—The Armed Forces Retirement Home Act of 1991
