( a )NOTIF I CA TIO NW IT HRESP ECT TO NONP R O L IFERATION A CTI V I - TIES. —T he S ecretary of D efense , the Secretary of E nergy, the Sec- retary of C ommerce, the Secretary of State, and the Nuclear Regu- latory Commission shall kee p the Committee on Armed Ser v ices of the Senate and the Committee on Armed Services of the H ouse of Representatives informed with respect to— (1) any activities undertaken by any such Secretary or the Commission to carry out the purposes and policies of the Secretaries and the Commission with respect to nonprolifera- tion programs

and (2) any other activities undertaken by any such Secretary or the Commission to prevent the proliferation of nuclear, chem- ical, or biological weapons or the means of delivery of such weapons. (b) NOTIFICATION WITH RESPECT TO P ROLIFERATION ACTIVITIES IN F OREI G N NATIONS.— (1) I N GENERAL.—The Director of National Intelligence shall keep the Committee on Armed Services of the Senate and the Committee on Armed Services of the House of Representa- tives fully and currently informed with respect to any activities of foreign nations that are significant with respect to the pro- liferation of nuclear, chemical, or biological weapons or the means of delivery of such weapons. (2) F U LL Y AN D CURRENTLY INFOR M ED DEFINED.—For pur- poses of paragraph (1), the term ‘‘fully and currently informed’’ means the transmittal of credible information with respect to an activity described in such paragraph not later than 6 0 days after becoming aware of the activity. SEC. 106 3 . ASSESSMENT OF SEC U RIT Y MEASURES AT CONSOLIDATED CENTER FOR NORTH AMERICAN AEROSPACE DEFENSE COMMAND AND UNITED STATES NORTHERN COMMAND. (a) ASSESSMENT RE Q UIRED.—The Secretary of Defense shall conduct an assessment of the ade q uacy of security measures for the consolidated command center for North American Aerospace Defense Command and U nited States Northern Command at Peter- son Air Force B ase, Colorado. (b) ELEMENTS.—The assessment required in paragraph (a) shall include the following

(1) A description of the security measures taken and planned for the consolidated command center as of O ctober 1, 200 8 . (2) An assessment of whether e x isting and planned security measures for the consolidated command center are adequate to provide the necessary level of protection. ( 3 ) An estimate of the total costs associated with such security measures adequate to provide the necessary level of protection. (c) REPORT REQUIRED.—Not later than M arch 1, 200 9 , the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the congressional defense committees a report containing the results of the assessment required in subsection (a). 50USC237 0 .
