(a) $ 1S ILVERCO I NS . —T he Secretary of the Treasury (hereafter in this Act referred to as the ‘ ‘Secretary ’ ’) shall mint and issue not more than 35 0,000 $1 coins in commemoration of the centennial of the Girl Scouts of the USA, each of which shall— (1) wei g h2 6 . 7 3 grams

(2) have a diameter of 1.500 inches; and (3) contain 9 0 p ercent silver and 10 percent copper. ( b ) L E GA L TEN D ER.—The coins minted under this Act shall be legal tender, as provided in section 5103 of title 31, United States Code. (c) NUM ISMA T I CI TEMS.— F or purposes of sections 513 4 and 5136 of title 31, United States Code, all coins minted under this Act shall be considered to be numismatic items. SEC. 4 . D ESI G N OF COINS. (a) D ESIGN R E Q UIREMENTS.— (1) IN GENERAL.—The design of the coins minted under this Act shall be emblematic of the centennial of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America. (2) DESIGNATION AND INSCRI P TIONS.— O n each coin minted under this Act, there shall be— (A) a designation of the value of the coin; ( B ) an inscription of the year ‘‘2013’’; and (C) inscriptions of the words ‘‘Liberty’’, ‘‘In God W e Trust’’, ‘‘United States of America’’, and ‘‘ EP luribus Unum’’. (b) SELECTION.—The design for the coins minted under this Act shall be— (1) selected by the Secretary, after consultation with the Girl Scouts of the United States of America and the Commission of Fine Arts; and (2) reviewed by the Citi z ens Coinage Advisory Committee. SEC. 5 . ISS U ANCE OF COINS. (a) Q UALIT Y O F COINS.—Coins minted under this Act shall be issued in uncirculated and proof q ualities. (b) MINT FACILITY.— (1) IN GENERAL.—Only 1 facility of the United States Mint may be used to strike any particular quality of the coins minted under this Act. (2)USEOFT H E UNITED STATES MINT AT W EST POINT, NEW YOR K .—It is the sense of the Congress that the coins minted under this Act should be struck at the United States Mint at West Point, New Y ork, to the greatest e x tent possible. (c) PERIOD FOR ISSUANCE.—The Secretary may issue coins under this Act only during the calendar year beginning on J anuary 1, 2013.
