Eads and his associates to create and permanently maintain a wide and deep channel between the South Pass of the Mississippi River and the Gulf of Mexico, be, and they are hereby, amended so as to provide that payments shall be made to said Eads, his assigns or legal representatives, as iollows, namely: Payment or ave SEG 2 The Secretary of War is hereby authorized and directed to g“H‘“°d *h°“”¤d draw his warrant upon the Secretary of the Treasury of the United ° ee States in favor of James B Eads, his assigns or legal representative , for the sum of five hundred thousand dollars, so soon as the said Eads, his lawful assigns or legal representatives, shall ile with the said Secretary of War a relinquishment of all claim to the payment of five hundred thousand dollars provided by the hereinbefore recited act to bo paid when a channel twenty-four feet in depth and not less than two hundred and fifty feet in width shall have been obtained.
