Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treas- Béffizewting ury be, and hereby is, authorized to contract for the purchase or con- “h‘P‘ struction of such steam vessel, and reirigerating machinery, or to arrange with the Navy Department for the use of such vessel as may be recommended by the National Board of Health, to disinfect vessels and cargoes from ports suspected of infection with yellow fever or other contagious disease; the construction of the same, if such construction shall be recommended by said Board of Health, to be under the inspection of an oincer of the Bureau of Steam Engineering of the Navy, who may, at the request of the Secretary of the Treasury, be detailed by the Secretary of the Navy for that purpose; and for the purpose of such Appropriation. purchase or construction, the sum of two hundred thousand dollars, or so much thereof as maybe necessary, to be immediately available, is hereby appropriated out of any moneys in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated.
