Ch. 71, 72, 73. 1882. 41 CHAP. 71.-An act to authorize the Secretary of War to sell the military barracks, Apr. 7, 1882. and the lands upon which they are located, in the city of Savannah, Georgia. ·—··j-·;- Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of War be, sale of military and he is hereby, authorized to sell the military barracks located in the b¤·¤‘¤¤k¤ ¤·¤d ¤il>¤» city of Savannah, Georgia, in such manner as he may think best for the S“t£“’!z';:l‘» G“·» public interest; and he is hereby authorized to make deed conveying °° °n ' the same, with the lands on which said barracks are located, now the ` property of the United States, to the purchaser or purchasers; and that he pay the money received for said property into the Treasury of the United States: Provided, That the said property shall be appraised Proviao. by a. board of three Army officers and shall be sold at public sale at not less than its appraised value. . CHAP. 72.-An act for the relief of Meidicszl Director John Thornley, United States APL 7, 1882 Bc it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That Medical Director John John Thornley, United States Navy, be considered as having been retired from Es1:°°?u‘:“N'°*' . active service as a surgeon, and placed on the retired list of officers of the a m°:.gw:_ "Y °' Navy, June first, eighteen hundred and sixty-one, on account of physical incapacity originating in the line of duty ; and that the accounting cfu- _ cers of the Treasury be, and they are hereby authorized and directed to allow him the rate of retired pay of the grade in which he was retired prescribed by section Mteen hundred and eighty-eght Revised Statutes, B. S. 1588, 211. for officers so retired; and the said accounting officers are hereby fur- p,ymm,_ ther authorized and directed, in adjusting the account of said John Thornley, to allow and pay to him the difference between the pay he has been allowed as a surgeon on the retired list since the passage of the act approved March third, eighteen hundred and seventy-three (section iii teen hundred and eighty-eight,_Revised Statutes), and that to which he . is entitled under that act as having been retired as a surgeon for incapacity originating in the line of duty; said sum to be paid out of any A1>1>¤>1>ri•i=i¤¤· money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated. Provided, That all P"”"'°‘· such arti es as shall be sold in the United States, or withdrawn for con- - sumption therein at any time after such importation, shall be subject to the duties, if any, imposed upon like articles by the revenue laws in force at the date of importation.
