Cox was elected Speaker pro tem ore January seventeenth, 1888; Mr. CARLISLE resumed the duties of Speaker February sixth; SAMUEL S. Cox was elected Speaker pro tempore February twenty-third; Mr. CARLISLE resumed the duties of Speaker March fourteenth; JAMES H. BLOUNT was elected Speaker Jpro tempore June twentyieighth; Mr. CARLISLE resumed the duties of Slpeaker une thirtieth; BENroN CMILLIN was elected Speaker pro tempore Ju y thirty-first; Mr. CARLISLE resumed the duties of Speaker August fourth; SAMUEL S. Cox was elected Séneaker pro temppre September seventeenth; Mr. CARLISLE resumed the duties of peaker Septem er twenty-fourth. SSE1A.?. 6.-For the relief of Joseph Cox, administratorof Charles Pastors, de- February 1.1U& °° . Whereas, Charles Pastors, of Randolph County, Indiana, was, on Pr<=¤mb¤¤· the twelfth day of January, anno Domini eighteen hundred and eighty-four, granted a pension, for which a certifdcate was then and there duly issued to him; that there was due said Pastors on said certiicate the sum of four hundred and eighty-three dollars and seventy-three cents ; that a voucher for said sum was duly executed by Sai Pastors, in his lifetime, and returned to the proper United States pension agent at Indianapolis. Indiana ; and Whereas, said Pasters, on the twenty-Gfth day of January, anno Domini eighteen hundred and eighty-four, and, before he received the checlg for said sum, died, leaving no widow or child surviving him; an Whereas, afterwards, to wit, on the thirty-hrst day of January, anno Domini eighteen hundred and eighty- our, the United States pension agent aforesaid issued a check or the sum aforesaid payable to said Pasters; and Whereas, said check was delivered to Joseph Cox, who was the duly appointed administrator of said Pastors, as a part of his, said Pastors estate; and Whereas, the said Cox., as such administrator, under the direction of the circuit court of said Randolph County, applied. in good faith. the roceeds of said check, to wit, the sum aforesaid. to the payment of the funeral ex enses and other indebtedness of said Pastors; and Whereas, the United States has brought suit against the said Joseph Cox to recover the sum aforesaid; Therefore, Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That said Joseph g¤:‘r¤°Q¤¤· Cox be, and he is hereb , fully acquitted and discharged from all ` liability to the United Sltates on account of the collection of the check aforesaid, or the app;>priation thereof, or of its proceeds, or of thesum of the four hun and eighty-three dollars and seventy- three cents, so allowed said Charles Pasters, deceased, as aforesaid.
