That for the purpose of carrying the provisions of this Act into effect H$*g°¤g={ gmd w there is hereby appropriated, out of any moneys in the Treasury not ° I ° u m"' otherwise appropriated, the sum of six hundred thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, of which amount the sum of five hundred thousand dollars shall be placed to the credit of said tribe in the Treasury of the United States, and shall bear interest at the rate I¤*¤r¤¤¤· of uve per centum per annum from the nrst day of January, eighteen hundred and ninety-three, said interest to be paid and distributed to said tribe as provided in articles five and six of said agreement. There is also hereby appropriated the further sum of P¤w¤¤¤¤*¤ fe •¤¤¤¢¤ eleven thousand four hundred and seventy-tive dollars, which sum shall be immediately available, to be paid as provided in article fifteen of _ said agreement: Provided, That none of the money to be paid to said {,”'rg*g;i,m_m,0“ Indians under the terms of said agreement, nor any of the interest thereon, shall be subject to the payment of any claims, judgments, or " demands against said Indians for damages or depredations claimed to have been committed prior to the signing of said agreement. That the lands by said agreement ceded, to the United States shall, holglzgfgagliggsfovgg upon proclamation by the President, he opened to settlement, and shall site mamma. be subject to disposal only under the homestead and town-site laws of the United States, excepting the sixteenth and thirty-sixth sections in each Congressional township, which shall be reserved for commonschool purposes and be subject to the laws of the State of South Dakota: Provided, That each settler on said lands shall, in addition to promo. the fees provided by law, pay to the United States for the land so taken ,,;",,‘;}*{{§‘;,"f" ’“"‘°"‘ by him the sum of three dollars and seventy/live cents per acre, of which sum he shall pay fifty cents at the time of making his original entry and the balance before making final proof and receiving a certificate of final entry; but the rights of honorably discharged Union soldiers and §,°g“•f&:¤,•},,,•j*lg0*g· sailors, as defined and described in sections twenty-three hundred and p.4éz.` ``’' four and twenty-three hundred and five of the Revised Statutes of the United States, shall not be abridged except as to the sum to be paid as aforesaid. _ That the Secretary of the Interior upon proper plats and description m{’:*¤¤** *° *¤*°’P’°· being furnished, is hereby authorized to issue patents to Charles Picotte and Felix Brunot, and W. T. Selwyn, United States interpreters, for not to exceed one acre of land each, so as to embrace their houses near the agency buildings upon said reservation, but not to embrace any buildings owned by the Government, upon the payment by each of said persons of the sum of three dollars and seventy-five cents. _ Sd t f_ t _ That every person who shall sell or give away any intoxicating liquors c¤m°br*j),f,i);e,;f¤ °¤· or other intoxicants upon any of the lands by said agreement ceded, or upon any of the lands included in the Yankton Sioux Indian Reservation as created by the treaty of April nineteenth, eighteen hundred _ h and fifty-eight, shall be punishable by imprisonment for not more than P‘““° "‘°“*· two years and by a fine of not more than three hundred dollars.
