' $**15** °*P°¤’”¤°”°°· EXPERINHENTS IN THE MANUFAGTUBE OF SUGAR.: To enable the Secretary of Agriculture to make and continue experiments in the production of sugar from sugar cane, sugar beets, and sorghum, including special culture experiments lookingto the improvementof those sources of sugar, and for experiments for "the more complete separation of the sugar from the molasses, including all necessary expenses in these investigations,»namely, traveling expenses, labor, purchase of samples, apparatus, and supplies, chemical services, including two hundred and nity dollars additional temporary compensation to the chief chemist, and other expenses incidental to the experiments, ten thousand dollars, §’_f;>g¤<>· or so much thereof as may be necessary: Provided further, That all ‘ products of the said experiments may be sold and the proceeds used in the experimental work, and that a full and accurate account of the proceeds of such sales be transmitted to Congress. lgaemrumi sx. Exrnmnnnr Srxrioivsz To carry into effect the "{.0‘{‘§l",f§Q$f°““· provisions of an Act approved March second, eighteen hundred and ` eighty-sevementitled “An Act to establish agriculturalexperimeut stations in connection with the colleges established in the several States V°U2·P~5°°· under provisions of an Act approved July second, eighteen hundred and sixty-two, and of the Acts supplementary thereto/’ and to enforce the execution thereof, seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars, thirty thousand dollars of which sum shall be payable upon the order of the Secretary of Agriculture to enable him to carry out the provisions of Vol.21,p.441. section three of said Act of March second, eighteen hundred and eighty- seven; and the Secretary of Agriculture shall prescribe the form of imma: ummm. the annual financial statement required by section three of the said Act of March second, eighteen hundred and eightyseven; shall ascertain whether the expenditures under the appropriation hereby made are in accordance with the provisions of the said Act, and shall make report thereon to Congress ; and the Secretary of Agriculture is hereby Amm¤¤,ew. authorized to employ such assistants, clerks, and other persons as he may deem necessary, and to incur such other expenses in traveling, sta- , tionery, and office fixtures as he may find essential in carryiugout the objects of the above Acts, and the sums apportioned to the several States shall be paid quarterly in advance.
