No- 1565-] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repi·e.sentati*ve.s of the United Gmm, Bmw_ States of America in Ocngress assembled, That Gilbert Shaw be, and he mlssuc oflund patent is hereby, authorized to select a tract of not more than one hundred and sixty acres of the public lands of the United States subject to homestead entry, for which a patent shall issue forthwith, without any requirement as to occupancy or improvement and without the payment of any fees or charges (homestead fees and charges having heretofore been paid by him), this grant being made by way of compensation on account of the loss of the northwest quarter of section t `r§y-one, in township eight north, range seven east, in Lancaster County, ebraska, in good faith taken, occupied, and improved by him, but found to be
