Taft, President of the United States $¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤di¤¤d· of America, by virtue of the power in me vested by the Act of Congress °l' m' p' m' approved June fourth, eighteen hundred and nmety-seven, entitled "An Act Making appropriations for sundry civil expenses of the Government for the fiscal year ending June thirtieth, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, and for other urposes," do proclaim that the boundaries of the San Juan National) Forest are hereby chan ed and that thely are now as shown on the diagram forming a part tiliereof. his proclamation shall not prevent the settlement and entry of any {*,zr1¤¤1t¤r¤11¤¤<1s. lands heretofore opened to settlement and entry under the Act of °l°3*’°'m’ Congress alpproved June eleventh, nineteen hundred and six, entitled "An Act , o provide for the entry of Agricultural lands within forest reserves} The lands hereby eliminated from the San Juan National Forest ¥£fi¤d_;°m;r=g_}¤re<1 w which are not embraced in withdrawals for administrative sites for pu ° ' use in the management of the Forest, or in any other reseigation or appropriation, shall be restored to the public domain an become su ject to settlement under the general rovisions of the homestead laws on such date and after such notice aplublication as the Secretary of the Interior may prescribe, but s not become subject to entry, filing, selection, or other form of appropriation until the expiration of thirty days from the date so iixed, except that on the same date as the lands eliminated become subject to settlement, the State of Colorado may, if the lands eliminated are subject to such m1g¤;]¤¤¤&s;1S ¤¤¤<¤>l selection, select as indemnity in the satisfaction of its common school °° ` grant, not to exceed two sections of land in each entire township restored, or one section in each fractional plortion of a township where the restored area thereof exceeds five thousand (5,000) acres, and no person will be permitted to acquire or exercise any right whatever under any settlement or occupancy begun prior to such date, and all such settlement or occupation is here y forbidden.
