YVHEREAS, by Article 5 of the Convention between the United mgiiiisgulilx mlm States and Denmark for the cession of the Danish West Indian {°,[)‘§°§,"¥j; ml Islands to the United States, the United States ages to pay, in full ' i consideration of the cession made by the said nvention, within ninety (90) days from the exchange of the ratifications of the said Convention, in the City of Washington, to the diplomatic relpresentative or other agent of His Majesty, the King of Denmar , dully authorized to receive the money the sum of twenty-five million do — lars ($25,000,000) in gold coin of the United States; AND WHEREAS, the ratifications of the said Convention were exchanged at the City of Washington on Januar? 17, 1917; V 1 39 lm AND ¥VHEREAS, by section 7 of the Act o Congress, approved °` ’p' ` March 3, 1917, entitled "An Act to rovide a temporary government for the \Ve<t Indian Islands acquired) b the United States from Denmark by the Convention entered into lietween the said countries on the fourth day of August, nineteen hundred and sixteen, and ratified by the Senate of the Ilnited States on the seventh day of September, nineteen hundred and sixteen, and for other purposes" the sum of twenty-five million dollars ($25,000,000) was appropriated to be paid in the City of Washington to the diplomatic representative or other agent of His Majesty the King of Denmark duly authorized to receive said money, in full consideration of the cession of the Danish West Indian Islands to the United States made by the said Convention; AX D `WHEREAS, in coriforniity with said Convention and said Act of Congress, the sum of twenty-five million dollars ($25,000,000) was on this da paid to Mr. Constantin Brun, Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary of Denmark at Washington as the
