(d) The commission is authorized to establish and maintain an °m°°l“N°‘” Y°"" office at the port of New York for the purpose of directing or carrying on any investigation, receiving and compiling statistics, selecting, describing, and filing samples of articles, and performing) any of the duties or exercis° any of the owers impose upon it y law. (e) The Unitedngtates Tariff gommission is authorized to adopt an S°¤*°¤*¤°¤¤>d· oflicial seal, which shall be judicially noticed. (f) The second paragraph of section 706 of the Revenue Act of °dY°l‘3°’p‘7°7*“m°“°' 1916 is amended to read as follows: "Such attendance of witnesses and the production of such docu- ¤,§£§T§P°° °‘ wl" mentary evidence may be required from any lace in the United States at any designated place of hearing. And) in case of disobedi- m§Mg§gQ°H*g, ence to a subpoena the commission may invoke the aid of any district me District armamor territorial court of the United States or the Supreme Court of the bh S°°t°m° °°m' District of Columbia in requ° the attendance and testimony of witnesses and the production of documentary evidence, and such court within the jur1sdiction of which such inquiry is carried on may, in case of contumacy or refusal to obey a subpoena issued to any teg¤’§S§§°¤;gh§g;,mQg corporation or other person, issue an order requiring such corporation ¤pp<i)¤r,ew. or other person to appear before the commission, or to produce documentary evidence if so ordered or to give evidence touching the matter in question; and any failure to obey such order of the court may be Tplunished b such court as a contempt thereof." Sec. 319. at on and, after the day when this Act shall go into d,§•§‘f§*p:;d°{°;;;" effect all goods, wares, and merchandise previously imported, for ` which no entry has been made, and all goods, wares, and merchandise previously entered without payment of duty and nmder bond for warehousing, transportation, or any other purpose, for which no permit of delive to the importer or his agent has been issued, shall e subjected to the duties imposed by this Act and to no other duty upon the entry or the withdrawal thereof: Provided, That when at time of duties are based upon the weight of merchandise deposited in any amy. public or private bonded warehouse, said duties shall be levied and collected upon the weight of such merchandise at the time of its entry. Sec. 320.
