felling, cutting down, or other destruction of the timber of the United States in Florida, and to prevent the transportation or
carrying away any such timber as may be already felled or cut down; and to take such other and further measures as may be deemed advisable for the preservation of the timber of the United States in Florida. (R. S. ? 2460.)
- 594. Protection of timber owned by United States from fire, disease, or insect ravages.—The Secretary of the Interior is authorized to protect and preserve, from fire, disease, or the ravages of beetles, or other insects, timber owned by the United States upon the public lands, national parks, national monuments, Indian reservations, or other lands owned by the United States, either directly or in cooperation with other departments of the Federal Government, with States, or with owners of timber; and appropriations are authorized to be made for such purposes.
