Be it enacted b y the Senate and Home of Representatives of the Reclassification of United States of America in Congress assembled, Th at se cti on 11 salaries . 43,p . 1065, of the Act entitled "An Act reclassifying the salaries of postmasters amended,

and employees of the Postal Service ., readjusting their salaries and U.S. Code, p.1242 . compensation on an equitable basis, increasin g postal rates to pr ovi de for suc h rea dj ust me nt, and for other pu rpo se s," approved February 28, 1925 (Forty-third Statutes at Large, page 1064, United States Code, title 39, section 104), is amended by adding thereto the following : " Subs titut e cle rks, s ubsti tute garage -men drive rs, su bstit ute driver-mechanics, and substitute general mechanics, when appointed regu lar c lerks, gara ge-me n driv ers, drive r-mech anics , or genera l mechanics in the motor-vehicle service, shall be given credit for the actual time se rved as a substi tute on the basi s of one year fo r each three hundred and six days of eight hours, and shall be appointed to the grade to which such clerk, garage-man driver, driver-mechanic, or gene ral mechan ic, would have progr essed had his origin al appointment as a s ubstitute been made to grad e one . Substitute service shall be computed from the date of original appointment as a regular classified substitute, and the salaries of the employees shall be fixed accordingly upon the date of their advancement to a regular position under the Act of February 28, 1925, and thereafter."
