Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States o f America i n Congress assembled, That the Sec re- tary of War is hereby authorized and directed to cause a survey to be made of the Salmon River, Alaska, with a view to preparing plans and estimates of the cost of such work as may be necessary for the prevention and control of its floods in accordance with the provisions of section 3 of an Act entitled "An Act to provide for the control of the floods of the Mississippi River and of the Sacra- mento River, California, and for other purposes," approved March 1, 1917, fried the recommendations of the Chief of Engineers, United States Army, contained in House Document Numbered 346, Seventy- first Congress, second session; and the sum of $800 is hereby author- ized to be appropriated for this purpose . [Public, No . 583 .1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representativ es of the United States o f America in Con gres s as semb led, That the Osage iii r eydfors in olil; Tribal Council is hereby authorized to employ an attorney or attor- etc., suits, authorized . neys, subject to the approval of the Secretary of the Interior, to represent the interests of the Osage Tribe in any suits or actions to be brought by the Osage Tribe or to defend any suit or actions to be brought by anyone against the Osage Tribe or any oil or gas or other mineral lessee in any court having jurisdiction of such suits or actions, involving the validity of that part or portion of Vol. 41, p.1249; Vol. the Acts of March 3, 1921 (41 Stat . 1249), and March 2, 1929 (45 45, p .1478 . St a t . 1478), ext ending the pe riod of owner ship in the Os age Tribe of the oil, gas, and mineral rights in and under the lands in Osage County belonging to the Osage Tribe; and there is hereby author- Payment, from royal- ized to be appropriated from the oil and gas royalties and bonuses ties, etc' accruing and to accrue to the Osage Tribe of Indians not to exceed the sum of $100,000 to pay attorneys' fees and all other expenses in the prosecution or defense of said litigation .
