Be it enacted by the Senate and House o f Representatives o f the Un it ed ,S ta tes o f America i n Congress ass embled, That the Sec retary of War be , and he is he reby, authori zed and direc ted to have ma de studies, investigations, and surveys of the battle fields in the vicinity of Richmond, in the Commonwealth of Virginia, including the battle field of Cold Harbor, Virginia, for the purpose of preparing and submitting to Congress a general plan and such detailed project as may be requi red for prope rly commemora ting such batt le fields and other adjacent points of historical and military interest, in accord- ance with the classification set forth in House Report Numbered 1071, Sixty -ninth Congre ss, fir st sess ion . SEC. 2. To enable the Secretary of War to carry out the provisions of this Act, including the payment of mileage of officers of the Army and actual expenses of civilian employees traveling on duty in con- nection with the studies, investigations, and surveys, there is hereby authorized to be appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not other wise appropria ted, the sum of $6,800, or so much there of as may be necessary, to be expended for the purpo ses of this Ac t . Approved, May 23, 1929 . CHAP. 8.-An Act To autho rize the Secretary of War to lend War Department equipment for use at the Wor ld Jamboree of the Boy Scouts of America . Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Rep rese ntat ives of the United State o f America in Con gress assembl ed, That the Secre tary of War be, and he is hereby, authorized to lend, at his discretion, to the Natio nal Council, B oy Scouts of America, for use at the Wor ld Jamboree, Boy Scouts, to be held at Birkenhead, England, in the months of July and August, 1929, one thousand six hundred cots, five thousand blankets, tentage for one thousand six hundred scouts
Provided, That no expense shall be caused the United States Gov- ernment by the delivery and return of said property, the same to be delivered at such time prior to the holding of the said convention as may be agreed upon by the Secretary of War and the National Council, Boy Scouts of America : Provided further, That the Secre- tary of War before delivering said property shall take from the said Boy Scouts of America a good and sufficient bond for the safe return of said property in good order and condition, and the whole without expense to the United States .
