Aircraft in commerce : To carry out the provisions of the Act approved May 20, 1926, entitled "An Act to encourage and regulate the use of aircraft in commerce, and for other purposes", as amended by the Act approved February 28, 1929, and the Acts approved June 19 and 20, 1934 (U . S . C ., title 49, sees . 171-184), including personal services in the field ; rent in the District of Columbia and elsewhere ; traveling expenses ; contract stenographic reporting services ; fees and mileage of witnesses ; purchase of furniture and equipment ; sta tion ery and s uppl ies, inc ludin g me dica l sup plie s, t ypew ritin g, adding, and c omputing machines , accessories, an d repairs ; r e pl a c e - ment, including exchange (not to exceed $2,000), maintenance, opera- tion, and repair of motor-propelled passenger-carrying vehicles for official use in field work ; replacement . including exchange, of air- planes (not to exceed $16,500) ; purchas e of airplane mo tors, air- plane and motor accessories, and spare parts ; maintenance, operation, and repair of airplanes and airplane motors ; purchase of special clothing, wearing apparel, and similar equi pment for aviatio n pur- poses ; purchase of books of reference and periodicals ; newspapers, repo rts, doc ument s, p lans , sp ecifi cati ons, maps , ma nusc ript s, an d all other publications ; and all other necessary expenses not included in the foregoing ; in all, $733,000, of which not to exceed $175,000 shall be available immediately. Appropriations herein made for aircraft in commerce shall be available in an amount not to exceed $2,000 for expenses of attend- ance at meetings concerned with the promotion of civil aeronautics, and also expenses of illustrating the work of the Bureau of Air Com- merce by showing of maps, charts, and graphs at such meetings, wh en incurred on the written authority of the Secretary of Com- merce . BUREAU OF FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC COMMERCE Salaries : For the director and other personal services in the Dis- trict of Columbia, $328,800 . For carrying out the provisions of the Act approved March 3, 19 27 (U. S . C ., Supp .
