TEMPORARY GOVERNMENT FOR THE VIRGIN ISLANDS For salaries of the Governor and employees incident to the execu- tion of the Act of March 3, 1 917 (U. S. C., title 48, sec . 139 1), traveling expenses of officers and employees while absent from place of duty on official business, necessary janitor service, care of Federal grounds, repair and preservation of Federal buildings and furni- ture, purchase of equipment, stationery, lights, water, and other necessary miscellaneous expenses, including not to exceed $5,000 for purchase, including exchange, maintenance, repair, and oper- ation of motor-propelled passenger-carrying vehicles, and not to exc eed $4 ,00 0 fo r personal servic es, household equ ipment, and fur- nishings, fuel, ice, and e lectricity necess ary in the operat ion of Go ver nme nt Hous e at Saint Thomas and Go ver nme nt House at Saint Croix ; $125,000 . For salaries an d expenses of the agricultural exp eriment station and the vocational school in the Virgin Islands, including technical personnel, clerks, and other persons ; scientific investigations of plants and plant industries and diseases of animals ; demonstrations in practical farming ; official traveling expenses ; fixtures, apparatus, and supplies ; clearing and fencing of land ; and other necessary expenses, including not to exceed $2,000 for purchase, including exchange, maintenance, repair, and operation of motor-propelled passenger-carrying vehicles, $35,000 . For defraying the deficits in the treasuries of the municipal gov- ernments because of the excess of current expenses ov er current revenues for the fiscal year 1937, municipality of Saint Thomas and Saint John, $70,000, and municipality of Saint Croix, $60,000 ; in all, $130,000 . PUERTO RICAN HURRICANE RELIEF To enable the Division of Territories and Island Possessions to continue collection and administration of moneys due the United States on account of loans made under the joint resolutions approved December 21, 1928 (45 Stat . 1067), and January 22, 1930 (46 Stat . 57), not to exceed $25,000 of any unobligated balances of appropri- ations made by authority of those joint resolutions, including repayment of principal and payments of interest on such loans, is hereby made available for administrative expenses during the fiscal year 1937 .
