SALARIES AND EXPENSES Administration and coordination of extension work: For the employment of persons and means in the District of Columbia and elsewhere to enable the Secretary of Agriculture to administer the provisions of the Smith-Lever Act, approved May 8, 1914 (7 U. S. C. 341-348), and Acts amendatory or supplementary thereto, and to coordinate the extension work of the Department and the several States, Territories, and insular possessions, $550,000. Extension information: For the employment of persons and means in the District of Columbia and elsewhere for the development, preparation, distribution, and display by the Extension Service of exhibits, motion pictures, sound recordings, and other educational and informational media and for the dissemination of information, designed to increase the effectiveness of the cooperative extension work of the Department and the land-grant colleges in agriculture and home economics; and to cooperate with other bureaus and offices of the Department of Agriculture and with Federal, State, county, municipal, and other agencies, including State, interstate, interna- tional, and other fairs held within the United States, in such devel- opment, preparation, distribution, and display of such educational and informational material, $240,000. In all, salaries and expenses, $790,000, of which amount not to exceed $667,756 may be expended for personal services in the District of Columbia. Total, Extension Service, $14,586,918.
