Dans tous les cas, une demande de renseignements est transmise immediatement b 1'Administration expeditrice qui doit y repondre, dans le plus court delai possible, en pr6cisant le montant exact du remboursement et en appliquant, le cas 6ch6ant, les prescriptions de l'article 137, § 2, ci-apres. Lorsque le destinataire est de passage ou doit s'absenter, le payement de la somme la plus 6levee est toujours exige. En cas de refus, l'envoi n'est livr6 qu'A la r6ception de la r6ponse a la demande de renseignements. ARTICLE 136. Delai de payement. Le montant du remboursement doit etre pay6 dans un delai de sept jours a compter du lendemain de l'arrivee de 1'envoi au bureau destinataire. Ce d6lai peut etre port6 a un mois au maximum lorsque la egislation interne du pays de destination l'exige. A I'expiration du delai de garde, 1'objet est renvoy6 au bureau d'orlgine. L'expediteur peut toutefois demander, par une an- notation, le retour immediat de l'objet au cas off le destinataire ne payerait pas le montant du remboursement lors de la premiere presentation. Le renvoi immediat a egalement lieu si le destinataire, lors de la presentation, a formelle- ment refuse tout payement. ARTICLE 137. In all cases, a request for infor- mation is sent immediately to the Administration of origin, which shall reply thereto as soon as possible, stating the precise amount to be collected, and applying, if occasion arises, the provisions of Article 137, Section 2, hereafter. When the addressee is traveling or must be away, payment of the higher sum is always required. In case of refusal, the article is not delivered until reply is re- ceived to the request for infor- mation. ARTICLE 136 Periodfor payment The amount to be collected shall be paid within a period of seven days counting from the day following the arrival of the article at the office of destination. That period may be extended to one month at most when the domestic legislation of the country of desti- nation so requires. At the expi- ration of the period of retention, the article is returned to the office of origin. The sender may, how- ever, by an annotation, request the immediate return of the article in case that the addressee does notpay the amount of the C. O. D. charge when the article is first ten- dered for delivery. Immediate re- turn is also effected if the addressee, on presentation, has formally re- fused to make any payment.
